While this song was not coffee inspired, it was probably coffee fueled. For my fellow coffee beings out there, and non-coffee beings, it explores the idea of what it means to be a human being. The science of our origins is really cool because if we trace our beginning, we are really made of stardust. To be human is to be made of stardust and also many, many more things. I’m still only beginning to explore lyrics and ideas to best convey the complexity of what it means to be human. In this song, I’d like to offer my interpretation, understanding and experience of human identity – here, the chorus kind of provides a backdrop from the Christian tradition in a search for meaning and purpose since that is the context I can best speak from. A friend of mine, Dr. Andreas Losch, made a great observation and suggestion about the song as it stands – it leaves disharmony between the verse and chorus, between the science and religious components, so I will be working on writing more verses to better convey harmony. Suggestions are welcome, over coffee.
